About Our Photo to Canvas Service

We only ever use the best available materials and also laminate all canvas prints that we sell with a satin varnish.  This enhances the colours of the canvas product whilst also providing protection against abrasion and humidity.

There are many ways to cut corners and save costs when making a canvas print.  We see many of our competitors doing this and the end result is an inferior product, which will have much shorter life. Using profiles of wood with home-made mitred corners is a common approach to making cheap canvases (cheaper for the manufacturer, but not the customer!).  We feel that when you transfer your own memories via photo to canvas, you want them to not only look great, but you want them to last a lifetime.

We believe that when creating a masterpiece for our customers we should strive to match the build quality that was demanded by old ‘masters’ such as Picasso. If you study world famous canvas paintings by these masters, you will see that specialist frames were constructed and ‘keys’ or ‘corner wedges’ provided a valuable method to retighten stretched fabrics as and when they loosen. This is an important consideration when putting your photo to canvas.

With any natural fabric there is a natural slack/taut cycle (particularly in areas with a wide range of humidity) so corner wedges are an essential part of making a good quality canvas. This is one of them main things which other canvas manufacturers will eliminate in order to reduce their costs – no corner wedges will nearly always mean that they are not uisng industry specific framing techniques and could simply be stapling/nailing strips of wood together from their local timber merchants which they can be in bulk very inexpensively.
